Lartington Lamb produced at Low Crag Farm
Lartington Lamb

A flock of 150 Mule ewes is kept and these are crossed with Texel and Suffolk rams to produce high quality lamb.

Winter feed for the ewes is hay produced on the farm without the use of artificial fertilisers.

Concentrates are fed for a month before lambing to ensure that there will be plenty of milk for the new-born lambs. The ewes are then briefly housed for lambing to ensure they all receive extra attention at this important time of year.

Lambs are born in April and reared exclusively on their mothers' milk and grass until ready for sale from August through to January. Their pastures are given no artificial fertiliser.

The lambs are ready for sale from August through to January.
